I am happy to share with you that Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is organizing a Hackathon titled ‘Darkathon 2022’ to find solutions to trafficking of drugs through darkweb that is posing challenges to drug law enforcement agencies the world over. To find viable solutions to this problem, NCB has projected the following three problem statements in the Darkathon 2022:
- Crawling of darkweb to identify and catalogue active and genuine darknet markets selling drugs (automatically and new markets and drop inactive/taken down markets)
- Crawling of darknet markets to identify drug traffickers on darknet based in India and the drugs they offer for sale.
- Digital foot-printing of active drug traffickers on darknet based in India.
The Darkathon 2022 is being organized on the directions of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, who recognized the problem of drug trafficking through darknet markets as a major threat and instructed NCB to tap into the vast pool of technical skills available in our country, particularly that of youth and students.
NCB also recognizes that the younger generation has to be protected from the menace of drugs for India to progress further as a world leader. One of the key steps in achieving this objective is to keep cyberspace clean from the invasion of drugs and other harmful substances for our youth.
With these objectives, the Darkathon was conceptualized and launched by NCB on February 15, 2022. More details of the Darkathon 2022 are available on their website https://ncb.cyberchallenge.in and registration of the event is open till March 31, 2022, which can be done on the portal. A brochure encapsulating the details of the Darkathon 2022 is also enclosed.
